Feds Will Seek Court Order To Have Apple Help Crack iPhone In Brooklyn Case

The Department of Justice will seek a court order demanding Apple crack the iPhone of an accused Brooklyn drug dealer, a law enforcement official said Friday.
The announcement comes more than a week after the federal government dropped its legal case demanding Apple help access the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino terrorists.
The DOJ needs Apple's help in opening the iPhone 5s, the law enforcement official said. The method the DOJ purchased to access the San Bernardino phone, which was a 5c, does not work on the 5s.
Apple can respond by April 15, and the government can reply in the case by April 22.
When asked if the judge will be skeptical of the DOJ, in light of the San Bernardino developments, the law enforcement official said, "I'd rather not speculate on what the judge might say." The official also declined to provide any details on what outside parties the Justice Department contacted to help access the device.
